Art Feast at National Modern Art Gallery(Delhi)

Art Galleries are the temples for art makers as well as art lovers.Visiting art galleries help in understanding the thoughts of great and influential artists. You can choose which painters you relate to and paintings of what era influences you most.

Last week, I took a visit of National gallery of Modern Art situated at the heart of Delhi near India Gate Hexagon. Collection of around 14000 paintings under one roof.I had an Art Feast visiting the gallery and so,I thought of sharing the same with you all.

At the entrance, stands a giant stainless steel sculpture by Subodh Gupta called "Ray". As soon as, we entered into the hall, We were fascinated by the dimly lit peaceful and serene ambiance of the Gallery hall.

The Galley Basement hall holds the famous Oil paintings of Amrita Sher-gil - "Young Girls", "Three Sisters" and "Bride's Toilet" transform the visitors into ancient India and makes them feel the plight of women.

The Ground floor hall showcases the British artists' paintings of the times when India was ruled by East India Company. British artists painted various forts and regions which were later used by Englishmen for administrative management. Thomas Daniell's "Fort Mirani"and "Manikarnika Ghat-Banaras" stand as giant ancient India's sights in the gallery. Marshal Claxton's Calcutta is also a must watch painting.

Another floor up, lands the visitors into Rabindranath Tagore's Head Study drawings.

Top of the gallery holds some of the most influential artworks of some of the most well known painters.
M F Hussain's "Horse" and "Cyclonic Silence" had a mesmerising impact on us. Cyclonic Silence depicts the mourning and stillness during natural disasters.

I personally fell in love with F N Souza's "La Ramblas, Barcelona" and Jaya Appaswami's Water Enclosed.

The gallery refilled me with ample of new ideas.I am motivated to do some meaningful artwork representing a purpose. DO VISIT..
